| Let me tell you something about
customer service. I bought a set of boxed lower control arms for a '65 Olds (same chassis
as the GTO, 442, SS Chevelle, Skylark) in 1993. (They are a GM part and came with factory
GM labels.) One failed in 1999. The pivoting portion of the arm fractured. It should not
have done so, and was probably defective from GM but that was 6 YEARS AGO. I called to see
if I could just order one. First, the Year One consultant was concerned that no one had
gotten hurt as a result of the part's failure. (We were lucky, it happened at slow speed.)
Then he was concerned that the other one might be bad too, although it did not show any
wear or damage. He agreed that these parts should not have failed. YEAR ONE REPLACED BOTH
CONTROL ARMS AT NO CHARGE (INCLUDING NEW POLYURETHANE BUSHINGS!), EVEN THOUGH IT WAS 6
YEARS LATER! If you buy restoration parts from ANY other company, you're nuts. Known for their excellent service and quality parts, Year One is possibly the foremost restoration parts vendor in the country. They are completely dedicated to the proper restoration of these classic cars. Sure they're in the business to sell parts and make money, but these guys really care about getting the cars done right. Their separate catalogs are filled with restoration numbers information, and helpful tips for identifying, valuating, and insuring your musclecar, and by themselves make a good restoration guide. (There are separate catalogs for Camaro, Firebird, Chevy II/Nova, GTO/LeMans, Cutlass/442, Skylark/GS, Dodge/Plymouth, Chevelle/El Camino/Monte Carlo, and Impala.) Also of special note is their "No-Sweat" returns policy and Tech Line
information center. If your part is wrong, for any reason, at any I don't want this to sound too much like a commercial, so let's see if we can find some negatives. Well, in some cases they can be a little pricey (but the warranty and MO discount more than covers that), and they don't go as deep into number of parts coverage as some single-make-only restoration companies, but that's all I can think of. Year One is truly dedicated to helping every restorer achieve the highest level of excellence in their work, and they have our wholehearted endorsement. |
